Fall is in the air...projects are on the mind...and the sound of
sniffles gives a soft background of music. I am writing all of you
today, as Val is at home with a nasty cold--seems to be the beginning of
the cold season, so make sure you are taking your vitamins.

Well enough of all that, nothing like the power of suggestion! On the up
side, the shop is a-buzz with ideas and new projects.
We have such an exciting week coming up--here is sneak peak of what's
happening:

Calling all quilters who want an adventure! We need 10 more people by
next week to go on the Bus Tour to Portland. I must say, I have been to
Portland with Jean a few times, and she helps you see things in a whole
new way...a building becomes a quilt, a coaster becomes a theme, and a
dish adds a whole new color to your favorites. Check out the website
for more details.

Our first ever Art Quilt Symposium: We are so excited to kick off this
event with Lura Schwartz-Smith and our very own Jean Wells. Held at
Five Pine Lodge, this is a week sure to relax you mind, body, and
spirit; while completely immersing you in ideas and inspiration. A
journey for you, the teacher, and your classmates!

"Seams a Lot Like Degas" by Lura Schwartz-Smith

Monday starts off the first of six Absolutely Beginning Quilting classes
with Lawry.
Also on Monday, we have Forget Me Not Log Cabins with Betsy Rickles.
Tuesday, we bring you Quilting Lines and Designs with Robin Ryan: learn
to incorporate your quilt designs with the overall design elements of
your quilt top. Wednesday, we have Crazy 9 Patch From Your Stash with
Ruth, and don't forget about our weekly Wednesday Demo, Sit & Stitch or
Knitting Techniques and Sit & Knit. Friday, we will have Judy Johnson
teaching Cascading Kaleidoscopes.

YARN TASTING FRIDAY 5 - 8 pm: If you are knitter than this is a
must-see event! Bring your knitting needles (or crochet hooks!) and we
will provide you with samples of our newest yarns...sit, knit, enjoy the
company with a few refreshments to boot - what more can you ask for?
This is our third yarn tasting, and we have so much fun! This time, we
have decided to throw in a little spice--come wearing something you have
made--we are having a mini fashion show. Just to add one more fabulous
item to list, we are giving a 10% discount for all yarn purchases made
during Yarn Tasting. So come if you can, it's the event of the season!
One more thing to add, we just did some major cleaning out and have 30%
off several yarn types, it's a good time to stock up.

Saturday the 27th -- To finish up this great week, Val and I are
teaching a skirt class, the Barcelona Skirt pattern by Amy Butler. This
skirt is a fall must-have! It's a simple A-line skirt and is so
flattering. A full day of sewing, chatting, and our ridiculous sense of
humor! We are really looking forward to this and hope you can join us.

As far as fabric goes everyday there is a new shipment last week, in
case you hadn't heard, we received Amy's new solids and decorator
prints, there are some fun ones make sure to check them out. Also, if
you have any little boys running around we just got the best boy
flannel, it's tractors with road construction equipment, airplanes, and
a go-with print that looks like the road in bright colors - it's so cute
I am buying some as soon as I finish writing to all of you. (I should
mention that it also comes in regular cotton goods as well.) Maddox has
to have some jammies out of this! On the flannel note--last week came
Olivia the Pig flannel - a perfect baby gift with an Olivia book. Also
new on the flannel shelf is Thimbleberries Harvest Reflections and
Moda's Pine Creek Crossing. Special for all of you Dick and Jane
lovers: we just got a huge shipment of American Jane fabrics and you
will love them!

So now that I have completely overwhelmed you with information and
happenings, I have a favorite movie recommendation--I think of it every
fall: "You've got Mail." It's a chick-flick, so send the husband
away...curl up with a project and this movie.

Enjoy the weekend, and happy sewing & knitting.
Carolyn

P.S. Don't forget to check the website for new fabrics and additional
class information, it is open 24-7 and you can do it in your pj's!
