[COHO] Big brew update #3

I doubt there's too much wild yeast blowing around Gary's basement in the middle of winter. I'd say if it's fermenting to leave it alone. We'll find out in a couple of weeks if it's rancid or not. The more we mess around with it though, the more we could introduce some amount of infection to the beer. keep in mind that some of these beers were starting around 1.090, and higher, thusly it's typical, though not ideal, for slow start. Just my $.02...

Gary,
It is possible that the bubbling is from wild yeast at this point. This is
what I suggest: Pull the top off of one of the buckets (mine is the one on
the far right) and using a SANITIZED ladle/cup, scoop a healthy amount of
krausen off the top and dump it into the bucket that shows little
activity. Two scoops would probably be better (Rasin Bran ;). Make sure to
sanitize both lids before returning them to the buckets. A small spray
bottle works great for this.
Additionally, If you have some, I'd boil about 1 teaspoon of yeast
nutrient in a half cup water for 1 minute, cover with tin-foil and let
cool Then toss that in at the same time as the fresh yeast in order to get
it up to speed as fast as possible.
