Hey there everyone! (Warning: fairly long email coming...)

Real quick; I want to thank everyone that came down on Saturday and
helped out with the bottle sorting. In no particular order, thanks to Chris
Hummert, Aaron Grier, Verian Wedeking, Joe Middleton, Larry Connor, Tiffany
Raymond, Robert "Jos" Joslyn, and Michael Harper. Your help is greatly
appreciated and acknowledged!

   Now, on to the competition...

First, THANK YOU to all those that are volunteering to judge the
competition. It wouldn't happen without you! And, if you haven't signed up
yet, please feel free to here:
http://www.1000bottlesofbeer.com/fall_classic_judging.asp As said before,
you do not need previous judging experience; we'll pair you with someone
with experience.

Second, as you know, there will be a judge raffle for prizes. When you
sign-in at Hopworks to judge, you'll get one raffle ticket for free, but you
have the option to purchase more tickets at $1 a piece. Believe me, you want
more tickets. In short order, we have secured very generous gift donations
from the following beer-related businesses (in *no* particular order):

Humble, heartfelt thanks goes to all of the above for their gracious
donations to the Fall Classic and helping make it what it is.

In addition, we've got 46 bottles of beer (from the out of the ordinary
to the VERY hard to attain) to give away from breweries such as:

Nøgne Ø, Unibroue, Full Sail Brewing, De Landtsheer, Hair of the Dog,
Golden City Brewing, Thomas Hardy, Sierra Nevada, Stone Brewing, J.W. Lees,
Bristol Brewing, Uinta Brewing, St. Bernardus, La Choulette, Baron Brewing,
Odell Brewing, and Brouwerij Van Steenberge.

Now, for the Best of Show prizes...

3rd place Best of Show will receive:
   * The bronze medal.
   * A 55 lb. bag of Rahr Malting 2-row pale malt.
    -and-
   * A clone kit to make 5 gallons of GABF Silver medal awarded Piranha Pale
Ale, courtesy of Vasili Gletsos at BJ's Brewery.

2nd place Best of Show will receive:
   * The silver medal.
   * A 55 lb. bag of Weyermann pilsner malt.
   * A clone kit to make 5 gallons of GABF Silver medal awarded Piranha Pale
Ale, courtesy of Vasili Gletsos at BJ's Brewery.
    -and-
   * A brew day with Ike Manchester at Widmer's pilot brewery in Portland,
OR.

1st place Best of Show will receive:
   * The gold medal.
   * A 55 lb. bag of Crisp Malting Maris Otter malt.
    -and-
   * A sit-down with Hopworks owner/brewmaster Christian Ettinger to create
a beer recipe (Mr. Ettinger will retain final approval of the recipe.) At a
time of Christian's discretion, the winner will brew that recipe with him.
The resulting brew will be served on tap at Hopworks.

A special thanks goes to Christian Ettinger, Rob Widmer, Vasili Gletsos,
and Brewer's Supply Group for their outstanding job in supporting the
homebrew community through their gracious Best of Show contributions. Their
dedication is paramount substantiation of the reason that Northwest
homebrewers and professional brewers alike enjoy the close-knit beer
community that they do!

Finally, a few more judge related notes here. Food will be provided
during the judging break. And I've heard *rumor* that there may be, at some
point, Hopworks beer on tap provided compliments of the Oregon Brew Crew...
:) I'm working on the details, so stay tuned. And finally, just confirmed
today as an added bonus: if you sign-in early, you'll get a free OBC Fall
Classic 2007 pint glass; but please remember supplies will be VERY LIMITED!

If you have any questions/comments/concerns, do not hesitate to contact
me directly and I will do my best to address them.

   Cheers!
