Tom-
Our group brews are informal gatherings where we get together and brew,
usually at a club members house. The club will brew a recipe that is agreed
upon by anyone that wants to contribute. We usually take suggestions at one
of our regular meetings and then a few of us will narrow down the
ingredients, who's system to brew on, etc. Everyone is encouraged to help
out. It's a great opportunity for beginners to get their feet wet before
investing a lot of time and money into their own system. We also like to
practice new techniques during these sessions. So, you might see a decoction
mash or chilling the wort in a snow bank. Everyone is also welcome to bring
their own systems and brew with us at the same time. Having multiple systems
and techniques helps us educate each other. Some type of food is there as
well as a keg or two of homebrew. We try to light the burners at about
10:30am and finish around 4:30pm. The beer that we make eventually gets
entered in a homebrew competition and the rest is made available at one of
our regular meetings.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate.
-Mike
