[COHO] AHA Big Brew / COHO group brew schedule and general clubupdate...

Hi Brett

Count me in for the pale ale judging. I was thinking that maybe we should do
a sensory analysis before the judging to calibrate our palets. I'm sorry I
got too drunk at the last brew meeting, but I don't want that to happen
again. If not, perhaps earlier in the next group meeting. Looking forward to
cinco de mayo.

Geoff

>Greetings COHO. Here's the tentative schedule for next Saturaday's big
>event -
>
>
>10 AM - AHA Big Brew group toast (nationwide @ 12 PM central)
>
>10:15 AM - BJCP Sensory Evaluation tasting and judging. We'll start this
>series with an American Pale Ale blind tasting, judged according to BJCP
>guidelines. We'll features six pale ales, and provide style guidelines,
>history, and BJCP score sheets. This is all no charge, but limited to the
>first ten people to get a hold of me in advance.
>
>10:30 AM - Commence homebrewing operations. Kris and Matt will be brewing
>Griffin Spit IPA, an all late summit hopped brew. Mike and Tim will be
>brewing Striking Gold Belgian Strong Ale, which will feature some "unique"
>ingredients. Batch sparging vs. fly sparging at its finest.
>
>12 Noon - Big Cinco de Mayo fajita and fish taco lunch and the results of
>the blind tasting . Continued brewing and drinking.
>
>There should be some beer on tap over here, most likely pale lager and pale
>ale, but I encourage others to bring beers for sampling as well. So far
>I've had a few people give notice for the American Pale Ale tasting, but
>there are still plenty of open spots. Get a hold of me if you're
>interested. I realize it's a bit early in the day to get started drinking,
>eating, and brewing, but this was suggested by the AHA, and not my idea.
>
>Also, just a reminder that the Marlowes will be taking our HOTV entries
>over to the valley on Saturday some time. So far entries have been
>submitted from myself, Mike, the Marlowes, and Bill, with a couple more
>coming in from Matt tomorrow. Give it a shot if you'd like some
>constructive feedback on your beers and brewing methods.
>
>It appears that the next gracious host of our monthly COHO meeting will be
>Gary Wirt, more details to follow in the next week or two.
>
>There's also been rumor of a COHO bowling night this Monday. We still need
>to get in contact with Lava Lanes to verify their league schedule. When I
>was in there last week they were pouring pitchers of Widmer '07 pale ale,
>Deschutes Inversion IPA, and Sierra Nevada pale ale. I think this could be
>a good time. See everyone sooner or later.
>
>Cheers!
