COCC Homebrew Class Fall  2006 
Location: Bend Community Center – 1036 N/E 5th  Street, Bend, OR 
Turn East at Taco Bell (Kearney Drive) off of Hwy 97, the  building will be a 
brick building.  Entry around back on East side of  building. 
Time:  6PM –  9PM  
Sept 27 - 1st class / Intro, History, legalities,  why brew beer, chemistry 
involved, supplies 
Guest Speaker  / Topic: Doug Elliott – Why Home Brew  
October 4th - 2nd Class / How to brew, equipment  examination and Brewing the 
Class batch of extract  beer. 
Guest Speaker  / Topic: Brett - Hops 
October 11th - 3rd class / Guest speakers: master  brewers, home brewers / 
Beer varieties  
Guest Speaker / Topic: Mike and Michelle:  Yeast, grain & COHO, Tyler – 
Silver Moon Brewer / Beyond  homebrew, Evan – Mashing and  Grains 
October 18th - Final Class (1 hour) / MEET AT SILVER MOON  BREWING.  beer 
tasting of student beer by judges  (no student drinking)
