[COHO] keg parts

Ryan-I put the stuff aside for you.
Tom also asked what size sockets to use in order to get the posts off. I
have two sizes on my kegs. They are 11/16" and 7/8". I bought them
individually at Lowe's. Make sure to get deep sockets. They fit on a
standard 3/8" ratchet. The inside of the sockets are star shaped and fit on both the star shaped posts and the standard hexagonal posts.
Thats good info. I never need too much encouragement to shop for new tools... ;)
The only other thing that you might need to rebuild them are extra poppet valves. You can reuse them, but they occasionally break if they aren't set right when tightening the posts. There are different kinds of them depending on what kind of keg you have. The last time I was in there, the brew shop didn't have the style that fits my keg, but they were going to see if they could order them.
morebeer.com has four different kinds, and I'm not exactly sure which kind to get...I'll have to go get those sockets and take the kegs appart so I can compare to the pictures.
If anyone wants me to, I can rebuild one at the next meeting so that you can see how to d it.
I think that's a great idea! I know I can figure it out on my own, but if I could see it done once I'd feel a lot more confident!
I know that no one cares to rebuild the disconnects, but if you got yours from Pepsi, they will have soda gunk in them and should be cleaned out. Some people completely rebuild their kegs every time they use them and some never do. It's up to you, but please realize that there will be beer left in the parts. I have a bunch of kegs so usually don't finish them for a month or two. If you finish yours in a week, you probably don't need to rebuild them every time.
What's wrong with root beer flavored IPA? ;oD
Thanks!
-Ryan
If you have any questions, let me know.
Cheers
