Well, the Oktoberfest is still bubbling away. It was a great brew on Sunday.
Thanks to all that helped out. Everything went fairly smooth considering
that the Big Beaver kicked our asses. If anyone has a fridge thats set at
48-58 degrees, and can fit a carboy, please let me know. I have them in
swamp coolers now and have to keep on adding ice to keep the temps within
range.
Next Wednesday, June 14th, is our next COHO meeting. There was discussion at
the last meeting of holding this one outside somewhere. Does anyone know of
a good location? Id like to do it somewhere like the back patio at
McMinnimans, but doubt that theyd let us drink our beer there. We should
have some beers ready from the Big Brew. We made the Kolsh and the Poor
Richards Ale.
We will also be collecting entries for the Deschutes homebrew contest.
Entries are due on Thursday, the 15th, so if you dont bring them to our
meeting, youll have to drop it off at the brewery. Brett, do have the
ladys contact info thats running it? Entries have to be from an all-grain
recipe and you have to be an AHA member to enter. That being said, I dont
know how they would know if your beer was all-grain or extract. The winner
gets their beer brewed on the Bond St. system, so make em good!
The main topic of our next meeting will be our summer campout/ beer
festival, the COHO Hoedown (this is just a working title). Please bring
ideas and suggestions.
The next COHO brew will be on Saturday, July 1st. Paul, did you still want
to host this one? Not sure what recipe well do yet. I was thinking of maybe
a high gravity beer that can age for winter drinking.
Brett, Jim, and I went to Corvallis for the Heart of the Valley 24th Annual
Homebrew and Microbrew festival. We had a great time and will tell you more
about it in the upcoming newsletter.
Ill be in touch on the location of next weeks meeting.
Brew on!
-Mike
