[COHO] next brew...

Thanks, Richard! The beer that I won with (Dark Beer and Best of Show) was
an ESB that I called Happy TrALE. I was stoked with the way it came out,
although I am going to tweak it a bit next time. I entered that same beer in
the Deschutes Brewery contest and it got hammered. Most of their comments
said how it wasn't to style. (The name that I entered it under had ESB in
it.) Who cares about style? I could see if it was a BJCP sanctioned
competition, but it wasn't. Hey, these are the same "sensory analysts" that
think Inversion is hoppy. Not that I'm bitter ;) For the LaPine competition,
I won a Keg-a-Que (http://www.kegaque.com/). It's pretty funny. I'll bring
it to our next meeting so we can grill some stuff.
Other people that won from our club are Lesli Cate with Third in the Regular
Beer category with a Blonde and Dylan Sigstedt, who got Second in the
Regular Beer category with his Lime Lager and First Place in the Wine
category.
I see what you mean about rushing a beer for a competition. I've decided
from now on to make beer as usual and if I happen to have something ready
when a competition comes around, then I'll enter it. Brewing is no fun if
you have to scramble around in a hurry.
Good luck to everyone that enters the Deschutes County Fair! It would be fun
if everyone that does enter it to bring an extra bottle to our next meeting,
on the 19th. We can have our own in house tasting just for fun. That's what
it's all about anyway!
Cheers!
