Giving a talk on WiFi doesn't necessarily mean he was advertising BendBroadband services, but it does seem a bit off-topic for a group with that name. I would be disinterested mostly because I already feel like I can't escape people talking about WiFi.

If I were to do a presentation, it might be an introduction to configuring Lighttpd. That would be more on-topic and wouldn't be something you hear about constantly.
