I used to be a fan of exclusively Kodak, but recently I tried a Canon
PowerShot and absolutely loved it. That would be my recommendation.

I would avoid Pentax.

I'm shopping for a digital camera for the first time.  Does anyone have
any thoughts on what to look for, what to buy, or what to avoid?  It
needs to work with Linux, obviously.  I figure anything with a USB or
compact flash should be OK, right?
