I'm actually kinda excited about the new Ubuntu release.  I run ubuntu on my  partner's machine and she and the kids use it for everything.  The thing I like about it is that although it has a very easy-to-use setup for beginners, it is quite easy to pierce the veneer and get to the meat and potatoes of the *nix under it all.  Ubuntu has me running Linux again for the first time in about 6 years.

BTW we should maybe plan a meeting.  Paul is planning to update his laptop with ubuntu, and it would be fun if we could all heckle him while it is going on.
