This has been a problem here in the Seattle area as well.  It ends up 
only degrading the quality of all user groups in the region when 
competition starts.

Any idea which city they're based out of?... hopefully not Bend.  If 
they truly care about the quality of local LUGs then they would be 
better off registering a domain that is specific to their town... and 
use COLUG as a portal to all LUGs in central Oregon.

 From the looks of their About page, it seems to be two relatives and 
two others.  The best way to remain the powerhouse is to setup monthly 
meetings that get people together off-line.  There is no competition in 
quality meeting.
